Independent Study

Independent study courses give students a unique opportunity to pursue a course of study not commonly included in CDM's curriculum.

If you are interested in pursuing an independent study, meet with the faculty member you want to work with to define the coursework and expectations.

• Registration for independent studies is initiated by faculty using the MyCDM form once the scope of the course is agreed upon.
• All independent study proposals require final approval from a CDM Associate Dean.
• Regular tuition rates apply to independent study courses.
  

Starting Fall 2025, only full-time faculty may supervise School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) production-based Independent Study projects that involve DePaul production resources (equipment, space, etc.). See the updated SCA Production Policies
