SCWR 404: Inclusive Screenwriting

This advanced course offers a critical exploration of how the storytelling practices central to creating film and television shape and reflect social constructions of race, gender, sexuality, class, ability, and more. Through readings, lectures, screenings, and screenplay analysis students examine how traditional Hollywood paradigms perpetuate harmful representation in order to reimagine their creative practices towards writing stories that reflect and honor a wide range of communities, perspectives, and intersectional identities.
