Foundations of Creative Producing
This course introduces students to the history of the producing field in the entertainment industry, and the producer's role throughout history. Through case studies each week on various producers and methodologies in producing, including but not limited to: film, television, limited series, live television, short form, digital, and others, students study examples of the creation of projects in these genres and the producer's involvement in bringing each project to fruition. Additionally, the class hones in on introductory lessons on the producer's role in: analyzing a script, giving notes, research, line producing, producers as leaders, developing producorial faculties, and introductory pitching.
