Prof. Ann Hetzel Gunkel teaches Film Philosophy as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Cinematic Arts at her doctoral alma mater, DePaul University.
Ann Hetzel Gunkel, PhD. Philosophy, is Associate Professor Emerita in the School of Communication & Culture at Columbia College Chicago where she served as a tenured faculty member, Humanities Coordinator and Co-founder & Director of Cultural Studies. An award-winning scholar & educator, she has taught, lectured and published widely in Philosophy, Film & Media Studies, Cultural Studies, Polish American Studies and Ethnic Music. Winner of the College’s Excellence in Teaching Award, she is also a two-time Fulbright Scholar.
In service of her interest in environmentalism & ecocriticism, she is a Monitor with Chicago Piping Plovers protecting the Great Lakes Piping Plovers of Montrose Beach where she photographs the endangered species. Her passion is live music.
