Bio and Research Information

Sam Wey is a creative director and lead level designer with 19 years of experience across film, animation, and games. A graduate of Columbia College Chicago, he began his career as a 3D artist at Nickelodeon and later transitioned to level design on titles like ABZÛ, Friday the 13th, Star Citizen, and Lost Planet 3. His recent work explores immersive tech through projects like Follow Me Dragon (AR), Jurassic World VR Expedition, and Fresh Out, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival. As an educator, Sam is passionate about mentoring designers to think critically across disciplines—helping students bridge creativity and technical execution to build meaningful, player-focused experiences.
